Paolo Soleri
Paolo Soleri's goal with Arcosanti was to create an ecological and communal city. Buildings are oriented south to capture the sun's energy and heat in the winter and to provide shade in the summer. The layout of the buildings sought to minimize grid-like organization, increase social interaction give privacy to residents, and allow easy access to all amenities. It's currently being built in phases by volunteers who live on site, and is funded largely through the sale of bronze casted bells. Soleri's vision is to minimize human's impact on the earth by creating self sufficient concentrated communal communities/cities.

These are maps, but really look at them for the variety of notation and representation...
I'll look for some more specific site analysis examples, but use the resources around you and look in the library as well!
