Design Concept
Inspired by walking though the forest, this environment is designed to encourge play and interaction between all people, especially children and adults. I aim to inspire adults and children to interact differently by playing with scale in a way that brings them eye to eye, changing perspective and relative relationships.
Both walking path floor-height and seating arrangements are designed at scaled heights, which will bring people of different heights close to eye to eye. There are winding pathways of varying widths to inspire a feeling of exploration and intrigue. The seemingly concealed conversation areas allow people to both sit in a relaxed setting as well as play and hide in "secret clearings". The walls, which feature varying opacities are meant to allow people feel the hidden in some areas but have a orrienting glimps of the fire pit from most areas in the design.
